Restore The Land
My Philosophy
The principal that informs all of my work with the land is that we must give back as much of it as we can to our more-than-human kin.
Habitats have been fractured, developed, paved over, and turned into wastelands, leaving smaller and fewer spaces for the birds, insects, and animals we share this planet with.
We owe it to them to rebuild and restore wherever we can.
What we choose to do, even with a small patch of land, makes an enormous difference to a single bee looking for a safe place to live and good food to eat.
I do not think of myself as a gardener, but as a restoration practitioner; I observe the land and help to gently steward it back to its vibrant, diverse natural state. I’m also not a landscaper; my services are consultation only, and are for people who want to get their hands in the earth and transform the land under their care.
During our call, we’ll discuss the nature of your site and the steps you can take to bring it back to life. This can mean letting nature take the lead and making small adjustments where needed, or it can mean starting fresh by replacing an empty lawn with a thriving patch of native plants.
If you would like to continue working together after our call, I can put together a list of native plants suited to your site, as well as full color planting maps for you to follow.
If you are ready to give your land back to the wild and restore your ecosystem, I’d love to help you.
